David & Constance Van Lieshout

David and Constance (Connie) Van Lieshout met at UW Oshkosh in math class in the fall of 1965 as freshman and sophomore students. Like many of their relatives, they went into the field of education. David ’68, ’70 MST and Connie ’69 were teachers all their lives. They loved working with grades 7-12 and want to help support future teachers in the same line of work. They feel that teaching is very difficult at times, but also very rewarding, and they wish all students the best in pursuing their dreams of becoming teachers.

Saying “I am a teacher” elicited interesting reactions and conversations from those that David and Connie met. Being teachers meant being involved in the lives of students, parents, faculty, and staff. To touch young, developing minds is, in their opinion, the most valuable work a person can do.

They established the David and Constance Van Lieshout Scholarship in 2016 to help undergraduate students pursuing their teaching degree.
