Dorothy Schwartz

Dorothy Schwartz graduated from the University of Wisconsin-Madison in 1949 with a BBA. Dorothy was very active in the community. She was a Winnebago County Board Member for 22 years, in addition to serving on several other boards, including the Park View Health Center, the Oshkosh United Way, and the Wisconsin League of Women Voters. In 1995, Dorothy was recognized by the Wisconsin Community Action Program Association as the state’s Outstanding Community Action Board Member. She received the Distinguished Citizen Award in 1999 from the Lake Shore Kiwanis Club.

She established the Edward L. Schwartz Scholarship, in memory of her husband, Edward, who passed away in 1995. After Dorothy passed away in 2006, her name was added to the scholarship.

Dr. Edward L. Schwartz was a professor of biology at the University of Wisconsin Oshkosh for 25 years. He served as the biology department chair from 1967 to 1970 and retired from UW Oshkosh in 1983. Dr. Schwartz received his Ph.D. in Entomology, Genetics and Zoology from UW-Madison in 1953.
