The Doug McLean Scholarship was established in memory of Doug, who passed away on April 20, 1998.

William Douglas “Doug” McLean is warmly remembered as a compassionate employee and strong student advocate. Doug was named director of UW Oshkosh’s Taylor Hall in 1979 and was given a special assignment as assistant investigating officer in the Dean of Students Office. A year later, he became assistant dean of students. Doug worked with student government, veterans, disabled students, Greek student organizations, and others. He also served on the governance group for academic staff between 1982 and 1990. He was Senate president from 1985-87 and the University’s Academic Staff Representative to UW System in 1987-90 and 1993-94. A Louisiana native, he earned a bachelor’s degree in history at Louisiana State and a master’s of theology at Southern Methodist. Doug was an ordained Methodist minister.
