Family and Friends of Florence Weinbacher
The Florence Weinbacher Award for International Study in Nursing was established in Florence’s memory by her family and friends. Florence Weinbacher (1925-1989) was a registered nurse and was an associate professor of nursing at the University of Wisconsin Oshkosh for over 21 years. She was coordinator of nursing’s international studies program in Europe and traveled with students to countries including England and France. Florence was a volunteer for the Catholic Extension Service in the southwestern US and worked at the Migrant Health Care Center in Wautoma. She worked for the Oshkosh Chapters of the American Cancer Society and the American Diabetes Association. In 1984, Florence was selected as “Nurse of the Year” by Winnebagoland District of the Wisconsin Nurses Association.
