Family and Friends of Helen Bannan

Dr. Helen Bannan-Baurecht served as Director of Women’s Studies from 1998 to 2007 and was an Associate Professor of History at UW Oshkosh. In 2009, after a lot of work by Liz Cannon, Helen Bannan, and Christie Launius, the UW System Board of Regents approved the women’s studies major at UW Oshkosh. The new major complimented the minor that had been offered at UWO for over 30 years.

The women’s studies program established the Helen Bannan Women’s and Gender Studies Award in 2009 in Dr. Bannan’s honor to support women’s and gender studies students who show exceptional promise.
