Family and Friends of Irene Kohne

Sister Irene Kohne was born in Decatur, IN. She made her profession of vows in the Congregation of Saint Agnes in 1941. Sister Irene graduated from the St. Agnes School of Nursing and became a Registered Nurse in 1944. She went on to receive her BSN from Marian College in 1946. She began post-graduate studies in surgical nursing at Marquette University and earned an MBA in Hospital Administration from Xavier University, Cincinnati, OH in 1963. The University of Wisconsin Oshkosh awarded Sister Irene an Honorary Doctorate of Science in 1992.

Sister Irene worked at St. Agnes Hospital as a clinical instructor and surgical and emergency room supervisor and later an assistant administrator. She went on to become the administrator of St. Anthony Hospital and later St. Francis Home of Fond du Lac. After retiring in 2003, she volunteered at St. Francis Home. Sister Irene passed away in 2014.

The Sister Irene Kohne Scholarship was established in 1993 to support students committed to making the world a better place.
