Family and Friends of Milton Gardener
The Milton K. Gardener Scholarship was established by the family and friends of Milton K. Gardener, professor at the University of Wisconsin Oshkosh from 1962 until his retirement in 1986. At the time of his retirement, Milton was the director of the Priebe Art Gallery. Milton was a professor of sculpture, specializing in bronze casting. He received his BFA at Ohio University and his MFA from Cornell University.
Milton’s work as a sculptor was widely appreciated. He studied bronze casting in Italy on a scholarship from the Italian government in 1964-1965. Milton returned to Italy several times and subsequently studied in France and Mexico. His work was featured at many one- or two-man shows, juried and invitational. He passed away in 1986. Milton and his wife, Christine were both leaders in the art community in Wisconsin. Christine taught art history at UW Oshkosh as an adjunct professor.
