Family and Friends of Roger Dennis
The Roger Dennis Scholarship was established in 1992 by former students, associates, and friends of Dr. Dennis. Dr. Roger P. Dennis (1915-1993) founded the UW Oshkosh Music Department in 1952 and served as department chair from 1952 to 1984. He worked at UW Oshkosh for more than 40 years. He received a bachelor’s degree in music from St. Norbert College in 1939, a master’s degree in music from UW-Madison in 1949, and a Ph.D. in music theory and composition from Michigan State University 1959. Dr. Dennis was an Oshkosh Symphony board member for 40 years, a director of junior theatre productions and community theatre, and was a World War II Army veteran.
