Hilbert Schultz

Hilbert “Bert” Schultz (1935-2019) graduated from the University of Wisconsin Oshkosh in 1959 with a bachelor’s degree in mathematics and physics. He later completed a fellowship at Harvard University and earned a Master’s degree in mathematics and a Ph.D. in applied computer science and numerical analysis from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. Bert taught mathematics and helped to start the Management Information Systems department at UW Oshkosh, where he taught until his retirement in 1997. He received the UW Oshkosh Distinguished Teaching Award in 1984.

Bert established the Shirley Tipler Schultz Scholarship in memory of his wife, Shirley, to help support business students who have to work to pay for their education.

Shirley Tipler Schultz graduated from the University of Wisconsin Oshkosh in 1956 with a degree in elementary education. She served as a College of Business adviser until her retirement in 1997. Prior to her service at UW Oshkosh, she was also a manager and owner of several businesses in Fond du Lac, Madison, and Monroe, WI.
