Jean Erdman & Thomas King

Jean Erdman & Thomas King

Professor Jean Erdman was a member of the Curriculum and Instruction Department at the UW Oshkosh College of Education and Human Services from 1984 until her retirement in 2015. In addition to teaching, Jean served as department chair, co-founded the Fox Valley Writing Project, and was a recipient of the Wisconsin Teacher Educator of the Year Award. Jean graduated from UW Oshkosh with a bachelor’s degree in elementary education in 1972 and earned her Ph.D. from the University of Wisconsin-Madison.

Jean’s husband, Thomas J. King, attended UW Oshkosh and graduated from UW-Madison. He worked as a bankruptcy trustee for the federal bankruptcy courts prior to his retirement in 2014. Both Jean and Tom were the first generation in their families to attend college. They established the Jean Erdman and Thomas J. King Scholarship in 2010 because they both value teaching excellence and want deserving students to benefit from financial support.
