Jean Nelson

The Philip & Jean Nelson Scholarship was established in 1991, in recognition of Jean Goodwin Nelson. In 1949, Jean received a bachelor’s degree in English education from UW-Oshkosh. She served as the Alumni Director of the University of Wisconsin—Oshkosh from 1968 to 1991. During her tenure, Jean expanded alumni services and added programs, including a University Day for Women. She was honored with the Outstanding Service Award in 1985 and an Honorary Doctorate in 1997. She was a founding member of both the Winnebago County Historical Society and the UW-Oshkosh Foundation’s Rose Legacy Society. Jean passed away in 2011.
