Jim Miazga
Jim Miazga is a big man with an even bigger heart. Towering at a height of 6 feet, four inches, he reaches out to people – acquaintances and strangers alike – with a smile, a handshake and a warm “hello.” He is an honest and trusting man who treats people with respect. Jim recognizes the importance of hard work as well as giving back.
A native of Rhinelander, Wisconsin, Jim was president of Oneida Sales & Service, a family-owned business. He sold the Anheuser-Busch beer distributorship in 2010. It was important to Jim to take care of his staff and he ensured his employees were able to continue working with the company under the new ownership.
Jim treasures his college memories. An athlete who played four years of college football at UW Oshkosh, he has been giving back to his alma mater since he graduated in 1974. He is a member of the National “O” and Titan Booster Clubs. Over the years, he has supported a variety of campus programs including student scholarships, homecoming, athletics, and the Oshkosh Sports Complex.
Jim attributes his achievements on and off the football field to hard work and common sense. He and his wife, Jean, do not have any biological children, but are helping countless children through their generous gift in 2011 to Rhinelander High School to improve its auditorium, gymnasium, pool, science lab, and media center. The Miazgas decided to share their blessings now so they can see the impact their gift has on their community. Likewise, in 2011, they felt the time was right to establish the Jim Miazga Leadership Scholarship at UW Oshkosh.
