Joe McCreery

Joe McCreery established the Linda Knapp McCreery Memorial Scholarship in 2006, to aid motivated single mothers, desiring to fulfill their educational objectives. He wanted to honor his wife, Linda, who was a career educator and became sensitive to single mothers’ needs through her years of work at UW Oshkosh in both the Financial Aid and Academic Advising Offices. Linda passed away in 2005.

Acknowledging that many of her opportunities and accomplishments were attributable to her education, Linda might say, “Once you have earned your degree, it can’t be taken away,” “Give them roots and give them wings,” “With an established education and a loving family, opportunities appear and dreams come true.” These thoughts were shared with her children and her many advisees at UW Oshkosh.
