Mary Willcockson

Mary Willcockson attended Eastern Illinois State University and earned a bachelor’s degree from the School of Education at the University of Chicago. She received a master’s degree from Columbia University and completed post-graduate work at the University of Iowa and the University of Chicago. Mary taught elementary school in Arizona and Illinois and had been a staff member at the University of Wisconsin Oshkosh, the University of Wisconsin-Madison Extension, Illinois State University at Normal, Johns Hopkins University, the University of Wyoming at Laramie, and the State University of Ohio at Miami. She authored a variety of educational bulletins and books for children and was a member of the Mark Twain Society. Mary passed away in 1978. Through an estate gift, she established several scholarship funds at UW Oshkosh to encourage the study of literature, nursing, and the fine arts.
