Mary Willcockson
Mary Willcockson attended Eastern Illinois State University and earned a bachelor’s degree from the School of Education at the University of Chicago. She received a master’s degree from Columbia University and completed post-graduate work at the University of Iowa and the University of Chicago. Mary taught elementary school in Arizona and Illinois and had been a staff member at the University of Wisconsin—Oshkosh, the University of Wisconsin-Madison Extension, Illinois State University at Normal, Johns Hopkins University, the University of Wyoming at Laramie, and the State University of Ohio at Miami. She authored a variety of educational bulletins and books for children and was a member of the Mark Twain Society. Mary passed away in 1978. Through an estate gift, she established several scholarship funds at UW-Oshkosh to encourage the study of literature, nursing, and the fine arts.
