Mildred Boeing
Mildred Boeing (1906-1999) graduated from Oshkosh State Teachers College in 1927. She was an elementary school teacher in the Shawano area and a member of Trinity Episcopal Church. Mildred married Radford E. Boeing on August 29, 1944. They had one son, Robert. She established the Radford Boeing Mathematics Scholarship in 1998 in memory of her late husband.
Radford E. Boeing (1904-1988) was a mathematics professor at UW Oshkosh from 1946 until his retirement in 1969. During his time at UWO, he also served as co-chair of the Mathematics Department from 1961 to 1964 and later became coordinator of advisement for the School of Letters and Sciences and for pre-professional students. In total his public teaching career spanned 41 years. Radford began teaching in 1923 at a country school in Hustisford, WI before moving on to high schools in Kewaunee and Oshkosh after earning his bachelor’s degree. He took a short break from teaching to work in an experimental laboratory at the Cutler and Hammer plant in Milwaukee, testing equipment for the military, before returning to Oshkosh High School in 1944. Radford earned his bachelor’s degree in 1931 and his graduate degree in 1945, both from the University of Wisconsin. He was a member of the Kiwanis Club of Lakeshore Oshkosh and several professional groups.
