Muriel Hawkins

Former Assistant Vice Chancellor Muriel A. Hawkins led the UW Oshkosh Center for Academic Support and Diversity for fifteen years. Dr. Hawkins dedicated herself to providing educational opportunities for students of all backgrounds and interests, focusing on diversity and student engagement. She went on to serve as the assistant to the president for campus and community relations at Dillard University in New Orleans and as the associate provost for partnerships and engagement at Virginia State University.

Dr. Hawkins earned a bachelor’s degree in radiological sciences from the Rosalind Franklin School of Medicine and Science in Chicago, a master’s degree in counseling from The Citadel, The Military College of South Carolina, and a Ph.D. in curriculum and instruction, with a focus on human resource development from Loyola University of Chicago.

She established the Muriel A. Hawkins Legacy Scholarship in 2008 to support students who have been traditionally underrepresented in study abroad.
