Paul Lane

Paul Lane graduated from UW Oshkosh in 1974 with a bachelor’s degree in radio-TV-film. Now retired, he was a library media specialist for New Holstein Elementary School. Paul established the Dorothy Lane Memorial Nursing Scholarship in 2007, in memory of his mom.

Dorothy Lane served countless others through her distinguished nursing career, which began with a degree from Duquesne University, Pittsburgh and later a Master’s degree from Marquette University. Dorothy taught nursing at Mt. Sinai and Misericordia in Milwaukee, St. Agnes School of Nursing, and later Marian College in Fond du Lac. She was one of the founders of the University of Wisconsin Oshkosh College of Nursing. Dorothy spent the year prior to the College of Nursing opening in 1964 writing curriculum. She was singular in her focus: to help each student to become the best nurse they could possibly be. As the first role model of the college’s vision statement a " …caring and scholarly nurse leader… " the UW Oshkosh College of Nursing owes a debt of gratitude to Dorothy for the fine reputation the school enjoys today. Dorothy passed away in October 2007.
