Rose & Edwin Daniels

Rose & Edwin Daniels

Edwin Daniels, a native of Oshkosh, and Rose Schmidt, who moved to Oshkosh in 1930s from Saskatchewan, Canada, married in 1934. Rose and Edwin had a strong connection with the nursing profession with several close family members being nurses. Their strongest ties to the University of Wisconsin Oshkosh came during the last 13 years of Rose’s life after she suffered a stroke. While Edwin cared for her at home, their days were brightened by visiting nurses and nursing students from the UW Oshkosh College of Nursing who provided care through the Winnebago County Health Department. Edwin and Rose began the work to establish a nursing scholarship in 1984. The Daniels passed away within 5 months of each other in 1991. The Rose and Edwin Daniels Nursing Endowment began making awards to nursing students in 1993.
