Sydney Thompson
Sydney Thompson graduated Summa Cum Laude from the University of Wisconsin Oshkosh in 2021 with a BBA in Finance and certificates in Risk Management and Insurance and International Business. While at UW Oshkosh, Sydney was a Dean’s List student and participated in Track and Field, where she was the 2021 NCAA DIII Outdoor Track and Field National Champion in the Shot Put and Discus. Sydney was also named the 2021 UTTFCCCA NCAA DIII Outdoor Track and Field Scholar Field Athlete of the Year and to the NCAA DIII Academic All-America First Team for Women’s Track and Field/Cross Country. She is currently an Associate Financial Advisor for Merit Financial Advisors in the Sheboygan Falls area where she focuses on assisting Wealth Managers in creating customized Financial Plans and Investment Analysis which help clients pursue personal and financial goals and is also a member of Merit’s national Financial Planning Team.
Sydney established the John A. Sebolt Memorial Scholarship in 2021 to financially assist highly motivated and academically successful undergraduate students pursuing a degree in finance. The award is named in honor of her grandfather, John, who passed away from COVID-19 in February 2021. John himself did not finish college, but was a firm advocate who valued the higher education system and encouraged his children and grandchildren to go to college.
