Virginia Sokolowski
Virginia (Jinny) Sokolowski graduated from the University of Wisconsin Oshkosh in 1985 with a bachelor’s degree in journalism. She worked as a reporter until her death in 1987. Jinny had a rare disease that deteriorated her muscles. Her father and sister died from the same rare disease. “She was a 23-year old newspaper writer, a good one, but the best writing she did was to herself in the journals she kept,” said William Jenz, Milwaukee Sentinel columnist. Her family and friends established the Virginia A. Sokolowski Memorial Scholarship in 1989.
