William Bartlett

William (Bill) P. Bartlett (1928-2022) graduated from Oshkosh High School in 1946 and received a bachelor’s degree in earth science education from the University of Wisconsin Oshkosh in 1972. He was employed by Shell Oil Company, owned a farm north of Oshkosh, and most recently, was owner of Crane Marsh Lapidary. Bill served in the U.S. Army for three years. He served in the Korean war and earned the Korean Service Medal, Bronze Star, and a Good Conduct Medal. Bill loved his family, the Rock and Mineral Club – Oshkosh, and the Evergreen Retirement community. Bill’s greatest joy was working in his Lapidary shop creating his jewelry.

Bill established the Bartlett Award to promote and encourage the study of geology at UW Oshkosh.
