Dr. Joan L. Simmons Scholarship
This scholarship is awarded to UWO students who meet the following criteria:
- Enrollment Status: Full- or part-time graduate student or incoming graduate student admitted for Summer 2026 or Fall 2026
- Declared Program: licensure, certificate, or master’s degree program within the Literacy and Language Program
- Minimum 3.5 GPA
- Must be registered to, and in good standing within, the Literacy and Language graduate program
- Must have at least 2-3 years experience teaching at the middle or secondary level or as a K-12 discipline specialist (art, music or physical education)
Selection is based on academic achievement. Extracurricular or community activities and financial need will be of secondary consideration. Due to NCAA Division III regulations, athletic leadership, ability, participation, or performance cannot be considered in the awarding of scholarships.
Award Payment: Fall 2026. If the recipient is not enrolled in the required number of credits for the indicated semester, the award payment will be forfeited.
