Mary Drecktrah Special Education Scholarship
This scholarship is awarded to UWO students who meet the following criteria:
- Enrollment Status: Full-time undergraduate
- Declared Major: Special Education, must be officially admitted to the Teacher Education Program
- Minimum 3.5 GPA
- Minimum 60 credits completed
- Must be an active member of the Student Council for Exceptional Children or Aspiring Educators
Selection is based on academic achievement, service (school or community service involving children); research (involvement in research projects relating to special education); demonstrated leadership in educational or professional organizations; extracurricular activities (excluding athletics); and financial need based on a statement. Due to NCAA Division III regulations, athletic leadership, ability, participation, or performance cannot be considered in the awarding of scholarships.
Award Payment: Split evenly between Fall 2026 & Spring 2027. If the recipient is not enrolled in the required number of credits for the indicated semester, the award payment will be forfeited. If the recipient is graduating in fall, they are eligible to receive the full award in Fall 2026.
