Ed Karrels Continuing Music Performance Scholarship

This scholarship was established by alumnus Ed Karrels ’97. Applicant must be a full-time undergraduate student enrolled at or accepted for admission to the UW Oshkosh, Oshkosh campus. Applicant must be majoring in a discipline other than music. Students with a music minor are eligible. Applicant must have a keen interest in music and must have realistic and identifiable goals for his or her time at UW Oshkosh and after graduation. Applicant must be an instrumental musician who is accepted into a department of music ensemble group and must take hour-long (two-credit) lessons each semester. First preference will be given to brass performers. Applicant must complete a music scholarship audition. Recipient must be returning for the full academic year following the year of application in order to receive the entire award amount. If the recipient graduates in fall, the spring installment will be forfeited. Recipient is expected to send annual correspondence to the donor describing the impact of the award on their future career plans, their progress as a musician, and some of their favorite performances over the last year (include recordings if available). Provided the recipient maintains full-time enrollment, achieves an overall 3.0 grade-point average, maintains a minimum 3.0 grade-point average in private lessons each semester, and funding is available, the scholarship is renewable for an additional three years.
