Officer Craig Birkholz Scholarship in Police Science or Criminal Justice

This scholarship was created in memory of Craig Birkholz, a city of Fond du Lac police officer who was killed in the line of duty on March 20, 2011. The scholarship is awarded to either 1) graduates of a high school in Fond du Lac or Kenosha Counties who are enrolled in a two- or four-year degree program in police science or criminal justice at a Wisconsin college; 2) students enrolled in a police science or criminal justice program at UW Oshkosh; or 3) a military veteran enrolled in a police science or criminal justice program. Applicant must have a minimum 3.0 grade-point average and must have completed a minimum of 30 credit hours (if enrolled in a two-year program) or 60 credit hours (if enrolled in a four-year degree program) at the time of application. The scholarship is awarded based on personal qualifications, academic excellence, a statement of career goals and community involvement. Finalists must complete a face-to-face interview.
