Pride Scholarship for LGBTQIA+ Activism

Applicant must be admitted to or enrolled as an undergraduate or graduate student at UW Oshkosh. Oshkosh, Fox Cities, and Fond du Lac campus students are eligible. Applicants who are enrolled must be in good academic standing. Applicant must be involved with activism for the LGBTQIA+ community. Recipients are strongly recommended to attend the Harvey Milk Commemorative Dinner, where the scholarships will be presented. This award will be split evenly between the Fall 2024 and Spring 2025 semesters. If the recipient is not enrolled in the spring semester, the second installment will be forfeited.

  1. Tell us briefly about the issues or experiences that motivated you to become an activist for the LGBTQIA+ community.
  2. Please submit an essay outlining your activism. Activism can come in many forms, including leadership positions within organizations; organizing events, rallies, or protests; fundraising; speaking. Activism may occur in person or online. While we ask that you share information about all of the activism you have engaged in, we are particularly interested in your LGBTQIA+ activism.   3. What are your future educational goals? In what ways, if any, will advocacy for LGBTQIA+ issues be a part of your future vision of yourself?
  4. Please provide the name and email of a teacher or UWO faculty or staff member who has agreed to serve as a reference to support your application. Your reference should be prepared to speak in detail about your activism, as well as other qualities relevant to the scholarship criteria.
