Ed Karrels Continuing Music Performance Scholarship

Applicant must be a full-time undergraduate enrolled at or accepted for admission for Summer 2024 or Fall 2024 at UW Oshkosh. Applicant must be majoring in a discipline other than music (music minors are eligible). Applicant must have a keen interest in music and must have realistic and identifiable goals for their time at UW Oshkosh and after graduation. Applicant must be an instrumental musician who is accepted into a department of music ensemble group and must take hour-long (two-credit) lessons each semester at the Oshkosh campus. First preference will be given to brass performers. Applicant must complete a music scholarship audition. This award will be split evenly between the Fall 2024 and Spring 2025 semesters. If the recipient is not enrolled in the spring semester, the second installment will be forfeited. The scholarship is renewable for an additional three years, provided the recipient maintains full-time enrollment, a minimum cumulative 3.0 GPA overall and in private lessons, and funding is available. Students enrolled at the Fox Cities or Fond du Lac campuses must transfer to the Oshkosh campus in order to receive the final two years of the award. Recipients are expected to send annual correspondence to the donor describing the impact of the award on their future career plans, their progress as a musician, and some of their favorite performances over the last year (include recordings if available).
