Wisconsin Rural Opportunities Foundation

Wisconsin Rural Opportunities Foundation

The Wisconsin Rural Rehabilitation Corporation was established in 1934 by the Federal Emergency Relief Administration to purchase FHA guaranteed farm loans to stimulate the agricultural economy following the Great Depression. During the decades that followed, the Wisconsin Rural Rehabilitation Corporation evolved into the Wisconsin Rural Opportunities Foundation, which supports educational opportunities for rural Wisconsin citizens at numerous educational institutions throughout the State of Wisconsin. WROF keeps informed of the most pressing needs of rural Wisconsin through its network of former award recipients, educational institution partners, and agricultural business and organization leaders. The Foundation has awarded more than $5.8 million in scholarships to help over 5,000 students realize their educational goals. The impact of this support is felt across the State of Wisconsin and extends worldwide as talented WROF recipients assume leadership roles in national and international agribusinesses and organizations.
