Doug and Carla Salmon Foundation Scholarship

This scholarship is awarded to highly motivated and academically able undergraduates enrolled at the Oshkosh campus who have a demonstrated need for financial assistance.

Applicants must meet the following criteria:

  • Full-time enrollment is not required; must have completed at least one semester at UW Oshkosh
  • Must be pursuing a degree that leads to a clear, direct career path with a self-sufficient wage upon graduation (not requiring an advanced degree). Preferred majors include nursing, education, business (particularly accounting and information systems), computer science, engineering, engineering technology, medical laboratory science, medical imaging, or similar fields
  • Must have filed the FAFSA (international students and those not eligible to file the FAFSA are exempt from this requirement) and must demonstrate need for financial assistance. Financial need will not be solely determined based on FAFSA data.
  • Must have a minimum 2.5 GPA
  • Preference will be given to single parents, international students, first-generation college students, older students, and those who are overcoming significant financial, social, emotional, or physical barriers to success
  • Must be enrolled when the award is paid out in Fall 2025

Finalists will be required to interview with a Salmon Foundation staff member. Students with a family or employment relationship with any member of the Doug and Carla Salmon Foundation board, staff or scholarship selection committee are not eligible.

Recipients are eligible for award renewals for subsequent fall and spring semesters, provided they maintain enrollment, a minimum 2.5 GPA, are making satisfactory academic progress, continue to have financial need, and funding is available. Renewals are expected to complete a follow up interview with the Salmon Foundation at least once per semester.
