Major General Herbert A. Smith Scholarship

This scholarship is awarded to UWO students who meet the following criteria:

• Enrollment Status: Full- or part-time undergraduate
• Declared Major: Any bachelor’s degree
• Must be a basic course student enrolled in the ROTC Program
• Must be a member of a US Army Reserve Troop Program Unit or the Wisconsin National Guard. Students who are not a member of one of the preceding groups, must submit an application for the Army ROTC Scholarship through the ROTC Program.
• Must earn 30 credits by the completion of the payment semester
• Must demonstrate financial need (FAFSA is not required)

Selection is based on exceptional leadership prowess and a desire to pursue a course of instruction leading to a commission as a Second Lieutenant in the United States Army or the United States Army National Guard.

Award Payment: Spring 2026. If the recipient is not enrolled in the required number of credits for the indicated semester, the award payment will be forfeited.
