Brenda Lee Lau Storytelling Scholarship

This scholarship is awarded to UWO students who meet the following criteria:

  • Enrollment Status: Full-time undergraduate
  • Declared Major/Minor: Radio-TV-Film, English, or Creative Writing
  • Minimum 3.0 GPA
  • Minimum 45 credits completed
  • Previous recipients are eligible to apply. However, students may only receive the award two times.

Selection is based primarily on promise in the field of narrative storytelling. Academic achievement is of secondary consideration. Preference will be given to Radio-TV-Film or English majors. Financial need shall not be a consideration.

Award Payment: Spring 2026. If the recipient is not enrolled in the required number of credits for the indicated semester, the award payment will be forfeited.

Supplemental Questions
  1. Please submit a statement describing your future goals in the area of narrative storytelling.
  2. You must submit one of the following work samples: 1) an original episode for a TV series, 2) an original feature screenplay, or 3) an outline and up to two chapters of an original novel.
  3. You must provide the name and email of two individuals (non-relatives) who have agreed to serve as references to support your application. One must be a UWO faculty or staff member. Your references must comment on your promise and potential in narrative storytelling.
    • Please provide the name and email of your reference. They will be notified to submit their recommendation once added to your application.
