David R. Barnes Scholarship
This scholarship was established in honor of David R. Barnes. Dave was pursuing a teaching degree at UW Oshkosh when he died unexpectedly from cancer treatment in 2007. With a passion for literature and creative writing, he dreamed of being the next Shakespeare. After realizing he probably wouldn’t achieve that dream, he set out to share his gift through teaching. Applicant must be a full-time undergraduate majoring in secondary English education at the Oshkosh campus. Applicant must have a minimum 3.0 GPA and must have met Gateway I requirements and been admitted, or have applied for fall admission, to the Teacher Education Program. Applicant must demonstrate financial need based on the FAFSA and must not qualify for need-based grants. Students graduating in the current academic year are not eligible to apply.
