David R. Barnes Scholarship

This scholarship was established in honor of David R. Barnes. Dave was pursuing a teaching degree at UW Oshkosh when he died unexpectedly from cancer treatment in 2007. With a passion for literature and creative writing, he dreamed of being the next Shakespeare. After realizing he probably wouldn’t achieve that dream, he set out to share his gift through teaching. Applicant must be a full-time undergraduate enrolled at the Oshkosh campus. Applicant must be in good standing and must have been admitted, or have applied for fall admission, to the Teacher Education Program. Applicant must be majoring in secondary English education and must have a minimum 3.0 GPA. Applicant must have financial need based on the FAFSA. This award will be paid out in Fall 2022.
