Betty L. Griesbach Scholarship
This scholarship is awarded to UWO students who meet the following criteria:
- Enrollment Status: Full-time undergraduate or full- or part-time graduate student
- Declared Major: Special Education; Undergraduates must be officially admitted to the Teacher Education Program
- Undergraduate applicant must achieve at least junior standing by the payment semester
- Preference will be given to applicants with financial need based on the FAFSA
- Preference will be given to women over 30 years old with family responsibilities
- Preference will be given those who want to work directly with special needs children or adults, either in the classroom or one-on-one, rather than those who plan to pursue other career paths, such as research or administration.

Award Payment: Split evenly between Fall 2026 & Spring 2027. If the recipient is not enrolled in the required number of credits for the indicated semester, the award payment will be forfeited. If the recipient is graduating in fall, they are eligible to receive the full award in Fall 2026.

- A consideration for this scholarship is that you are age 30 or older. Are you 30 or older?
- Please submit a short essay describing your family responsibilities, if applicable (include number of children, ages of children, etc.).
- Please submit a statement describing your need for financial support to continue your education. Make sure to provide detailed information regarding the resources you have to pay for college (scholarships, loans, VA benefits, employer benefits, work, etc.) and your remaining amount of financial need.
- Please describe your long-term career aspirations including your interest in working directly with persons with disabilities.
